Protest: Say No To Solitary Confinement Of Youth

On October 20th I went to an event outside of the Syracuse Justice Center, protesting Kids being abused in solitary confinement, or kid’s being in it at-all. At the protest people gave speeches that some of the people inside of solitary made. Here is a Blog Article about the issue

At the protest I also got a pin saying “Lift us up, don’t push us out” from The Center of Community Alternatives, an organization seeking to reduce incarceration. They organized the protest and were giving away t-shirts and other merchandise with other statements written on them about the issue. This is a News Article about the protest.

Interview With The Syracuse Peace Council

Sunday, October 10:

I went to the headquarters of the Syracuse Peace Council, "An Organization dedicated to educate, agitate and organize for a world where war, violence and exploitation in any form will no longer exist" for an interview. Then I was invited a week or so later to the protest that I will tell about in my next blog post: Protest Against Solitary Confinement. At my interview I met with Brian Escobar, an Employee of the Syracuse Peace Council. With me a brought home a bunch of pamphlets about issues like: the cleaning of Onondaga Lake, the Palestinians, and the Nuclear Weapons Program. I took them home, read them, and might make new pamphlets about the same issues but for Kids so that they could understand them better.
